At Home With Sia: The Playlist

“I just thought being loved by strangers was the cure,” Sia tells Apple Music. “When I got to a level of even average fame, I realized that was not the case. And then as I got progressively, slightly more famous, I realized it wasn't for me at all and that I had made a huge mistake.” On her revealing At Home With interview with Zane Lowe, the pop singer-songwriter, actor, and director opens up about dealing with the trappings of fame, the joys and challenges of adopting two sons and the foster system, and becoming a grandmother. As she prepares for her upcoming directorial film debut Music, which she also co-wrote, Sia curated an exclusive Apple Music playlist with tracks that are bringing her joy during lockdown. “It was literally nothing from the modern day,” Sia says of the playlist, which includes tracks by Aretha Franklin, The Cardigans, Outkast, and Prince (whose 1987 double album Sign O’ the Times is here in its entirety), and maybe not a lot of newer artists. “I didn't realize it until after I sent it. I was like, 'Oh, I haven't listened to music in 20 years, obviously.’”
