Québécois singer/songwriter Alexandre Poulin's elaborate first-person fables unfold like fine short fiction (and often with a surprising kicker). Beginning with his 2008 debut, Poulin has worked in the tradition of Jacques Brel, Bruce Springsteen, and other artists who abandoned verse-chorus-verse orthodoxy in search of unique forms to fit their miniature universes. Raised in Sherbrooke, the acoustic guitarist populates his songs with working-class details and desires accessible to anyone with a heart.
