2020 was a weird year in many ways. Politically speaking, there was so much civil disorder. At times, it was hard to focus on the important things in life. When coping with this, I often became very introspective. One day I came to the realization that home is not any particular possession, but rather the people I am surrounded with. At the beginning of quarantine, I was living by myself, and so I often was thinking about family and friends I could not see. Eventually I was able to reuniate with my family, and so the message of being at home when you are with the ones you love resonated even more with me this year. Despite the atrocities that took place this year, now I know what's most important to me. What does this preamble have to do with the playlist? After reflecting on 2020 with hindsight, I chose the songs that best represented specific, personal moments from this past year. I then organized the songs in an order based on the moment they represent, and the time of year in which they took place. To conclude, thank you Dirty Projectors for the rad music you put out in 2020. I greatly appreciate it.
