4AD Records: The ‘80s

In its early years, UK label 4AD proved as pivotal to '80s post-punk as Factory, but it was even more diverse: Despite the predominance of goth-leaning acts like Bauhaus, Cocteau Twins, and This Mortal Coil, there was also room for Colourbox's cut-and-paste funk, M/A/R/R/S' proto-rave, and the American college rock of Pixies and Throwing Muses.
