In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. One of our earliest memories as an ensemble is our first tour where we decided to pack of a van with four marimbas, two vibraphones, sixteen tom-toms, and four bass drums and a boat load of hardware and accessories. It took us 6 hours to setup! What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Aleck Karis, John Cage, John Cage: Sonatas and Interludes for Prepared Piano Edmund Niemann, Evan Ziporyn, Garry Kvistad, Jeanne LeBlanc, Leslie Scott, Steve Reich, Reich: Music for 18 Musicians TorQ Percussion Quartet, Without a Map Without a Map was recorded with pure joy and passion for our craft. Music for 18 Musicians is an iconic piece played by some our teachers and colleagues who have shaped our career. John Cage has been a major influence on our career. Tell us why you chose this song. “Thrown from a Loop” This song represents so much of what TorQ Percussion has strived to do. It was written by a member of the ensemble and has been performed hundreds of times. The rhythm and harmony are magical.
