The Stone Coyotes

About The Stone Coyotes

As an unlikely rock trio in the form of a New York City guitarist and vocalist (Barbara Keith aka mom), a former television sitcom writer-turned-drummer (Doug Tibbles aka dad), and a bassist playing since the age of 11 (John Tibbles aka son), the Stone Coyotes have paved an esoteric musical path from New York City to Los Angeles all the way to Western Massachusetts in their quest for rock & roll respectability. Eschewing major-label distribution, the band released its initial recording, Church of the Falling Rain, through an exclusive agreement with Amazon.com and caught the ear of Jackie Brown/Get Shorty novelist Elmore Leonard. Leonard then appeared with the Stone Coyotes in a tour of reading/music shows and partnered with the band to include their music in his next film. Their follow-up, Situation Out of Control, was released through Red Cat Records in the summer of 2000. Enjoying their time on the label and its non-corporate approach, Ride Away from the World became their second release on the Massachusetts label. ~ Roxanne Blanford
