In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. In 2nd grade I was dragged along to my older sibling's summer music camp. I saw someone playing trumpet and decided right then, that's the instrument for me! I then had to wait 2 years before I was old enough to start lessons at school What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Clifford Brown, Clifford Brown with Strings The Count Basie Orchestra, Basie Swings The Blues Various Artists, Straight, No Chaser: The Greatest Hits of Bebop with Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, And More Clifford Brown has been a favorite since high school. Basie for its awesome vocals and swinging band, and Dizzy, because it was my daughter's favorite bedtime music for years when she was a toddler! Tell us why you chose this song. “Teddy Bear” It has simple lyrics that engage the children, while exposing them to music inspired by a jazz classic – John Coltrane's recording of My Favorite Things. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Our 2015 concert at the Beijing Concert Hall, backed by my sister Cynthia Sayer's amazing band — getting a concert hall full of families up and dancing to children's music in this historic venue! Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Our new children's books coming later in 2026! Each includes a story tied to one of our songs, a listening link, and a lesson plan to bring music and movement to story times. They'll be perfect for preschool teachers and librarians.
