The daughter of soul legend Johnnie Taylor, Tasha Taylor grew up surrounded by music, but she wanted to be an actress. She earned some television roles when she was a kid, studied drama at Boston University and continued with it after college, but she was drawn back to music. Taylor sang with Jack Mack & the Heart Attack, then became part of Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi's Blues Brothers touring revue. Simultaneously, she placed solo songs on soundtracks -- she had cuts on both Men in Trees and Lipstick Jungle -- which led to the release of her debut album, Revival, in 2008.
