About Shordie Shordie

Shordie Shordie got his solo start with 2018’s Captain Hook, but before he dropped that first project he was already a hero in his hometown of Baltimore. He cut his teeth as a member of local crew Peso Da Mafia, which captivated the DMV with “Money Man,” a track that sparked a viral dance craze up and down the Eastern Seaboard. When Shordie decided to depart the group, he found a simpatico collaborator in Murda Beatz, the Canadian producer with an ear for minimal-yet-menacing trap beats. The duo first linked up on 2021’s Memory Lane, which featured both artists showcasing styles outside of the sounds they were known for. “DOCTORS,” for instance, finds Murda cooking up a bluesy guitar-based beat, while Shordie croons contemplatively about being stuck in the streets but wanting something more. It’s a love he looks for throughout his career, exemplified in this one line. He sings: “Go some places where nobody goes/Look at couples, they givin’ me goals.”
