About Sammie

R&B singer Sammie stormed the charts as a teen at the turn of the millennium. He then returned years later to build a lasting career that’s still going strong. • The Florida native started out singing in church when he was four. In 1998, he appeared on It’s Showtime at the Apollo and ultimately won an “Apollo Kids” competition by singing Stevie Wonder's “My Cherie Amour.” • Thanks to his triumph at the Apollo, Sammie linked up with superstar producer and songwriter Dallas Austin for his 2000 debut album From the Bottom to the Top. The LP spawned the breakout hit “I Like It,” which went gold and peaked in the Top 25 of Billboard Hot 100. • Sammie returned to high school after his initial burst of success and didn’t make another project until 2006, when he reintroduced himself with a self-titled album. • In 2008, he teamed up with Soulja Boy on the popular song “Kiss Me Thru The Phone.” The collaboration peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. • His fifth studio album, 2020’s Such Is Life..., includes features from Tank and DJ Luke Nasty.
