In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. One of my earliest musical memories was in church in Decatur, Georgia. One Fifth Sunday, I got to sing a duet with Gwendolyn Martin, who led the mass choir. It was one of the happiest moments of my life, feeling good enough to sing with her. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Alanis Morissette, Jagged Little Pill (Remastered) Lauryn Hill, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill Sam Cooke, The Soul Stirrers, Sam Cooke and the Soul Stirrers There’s not a track I would skip. I’ve covered some songs at open mics, and others have gotten me through difficult times in my early adulthood. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “We Got Love” We had just finished working on another track, and my producer played this guitar riff he’d been working on. I asked for ten minutes, and the song just flowed out. It was one of those stream-of-consciousness moments.
