About Roja Valentine

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Around age 4, shortly after moving to Canada, I was mesmerized by Destiny’s Child, Aaliyah, etc., on the TV. Despite my limited English at the time, their talent captivated me. This sparked my desire to connect with people through music. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Beyoncé, RENAISSANCE Haïtian Troubadours, Haïtian Troubadours, Vol. 2 Michael Jackson, Thriller "Haïtian Troubadours, Vol. 2" is a nostalgic journey back home to my birth country. "RENAISSANCE" is, to me, a masterclass in storytelling, lyricism, and aesthetics. "Thriller" is a timeless classic, what I consider a blueprint for today's top music. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Move Right (feat. Shadow Young)” "Move Right" is the first song I put out into the world. Its sound captures a fusion of my diverse influences, blending elements from R&B to Haitian music. It represents a pivotal moment where I unapologetically embraced and expressed my truest self. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? It was the first time I performed my original music before a live audience. Experiencing that unique connection with the audience, moved by my art, was incredibly validating. Since then, my love for performing has continued to flourish. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? So much! I've only just gotten started. Now that I'm finding my voice, I have a lot to say and a lot of music to share, so my focus is mainly on my creative process. For now, I'm enjoying the journey and seeing where it takes me.
