Richard Meyer

About Richard Meyer

Singer/songwriter Richard Meyer was at the center of the Greenwich Village folk scene from the early '80s and into the '90s -- he produced concerts and radio programs, edited Fast Folk Musical Magazine between 1986 and 1992, and developed a strong body of work, including the Shanachie label albums The Good Life! (1992) and A Letter from the Open Sky (1994). A comprehensive artist involved in producing, arranging, and writing (including reviews for All Music Guide), as well as lighting and scenery design for theater productions, Meyer was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in the late 2000s. The disease left Meyer unable to perform, and he moved into a New York area nursing facility. ~ Bill McCaully
