Kansas City-based indie rockers Proudentall formed in 1996, when vocalist/guitarist Matt Dunehoo, guitarist Clay Zimmerman, bassist/vocalist Billy Ning, and drummer John Cruz all went to the same high school. They recorded two self-titled cassettes' worth of material and the 7" Snowed Skyline/Island with this lineup; after graduation, Zimmerman left the group and Proudentall continued on as a trio. The band appeared on a few compilations and a split single with the Anniversary before releasing their debut album What's Happening Here in 1999.
