About Post Monroe

Post Monroe are a contemporary country trio in the vein of Lady Antebellum, Maddie & Tae, and Pistol Annies -- a group that emphasizes soft, layered harmonies and gently melodic country-pop tunes. Ashlee Hewitt, Whitney Duncan, and Shelby McLeod all hailed from different areas of the United States -- Hewitt is from Minnesota, Duncan calls Tennessee her home, and McLeod is a native of Georgia -- but they were all drawn to Nashville, all hoping to pursue a career in country music. Duncan took the long route to the Music City, arriving there after first achieving some fame as a contestant on Survivor: South Pacific and a season of The Amazing Race, but once she arrived there, she wound up working at Reba McEntire's Starstruck Entertainment, which is where she met McLeod; from there, they recruited Shelby's friend Hewitt to form a trio. Taking their name from Marilyn Monroe -- Hewitt remembered a certain fashion called "Post Monroe" -- the group worked with Lady Antebellum's Dave Haywood for 2016's eponymous debut EP, which featured the single "Red Hot American Summer." At the end of that year, the group released the seasonal single "Let Christmas Hang Around." In 2017, Post Monroe released the emotional single "Better Place," which honored Duncan's cousin, who was tragically murdered six years prior. Later that year, the lighter-toned Digital 45, Vol.1 was released featuring the songs "White Noise" and "Psycho." ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
