An indie-pop act with electronic leanings, +/- (Plus Minus) was formed in 2001 by latter-day Versus members James Baluyut and Patrick Ramos. Specializing in low-key acoustic-incorporating sound, the New York City-based ensemble started out on the Teen Beat label, but moved to Absolutely Kosher with ‘06’s well-received LET’S BUILD A FIRE. Surprisingly, drummer Chris Deaner joined pop singer Kelly Clarkson’s backing band in ’07, but he also remained with +/-, dividing his time between the two markedly different acts.
