About Nick De La Hoyde

Sydney-based singer/songwriter and rapper Nick de la Hoyde wasn't always a professional musician. Before pursuing a career in music, the young Syrian-British artist relocated to Spain to try his luck with professional soccer. There, he started rapping as a way to let off steam. Finding his heart was more interested in music, he began recording. His early work featured singing and rapping atop melodic pop and acoustic numbers inspired by Ed Sheeran, Macklemore, Justin Bieber, and Drake. His debut EP, Passion, included a blend of genres and a spot by Monks of Mellonwah. His follow-up single, the aptly titled "Changing," arrived later in 2015. It featured a slight tropical dance vibe, which would carry into his 2016 output. The title track to his EP Never Gonna Beg for It incorporated influence from the Weeknd, an introspective R&B-tinged single reminiscent of Zayn, Troye Sivan, and morgxn. ~ Neil Z. Yeung, Rovi
