About Kyla Jade

Nashville-based gospel singer Kyla Jade sang her way into the finals of season 14 of television singing competition The Voice in 2018. The Topeka, Kansas native grew up singing in church gospel choirs, later joining the Nashville Super Choir on BET's Bobby Jones Gospel after college. She auditioned as backing vocalist for American Idol alum Jennifer Hudson, who become one of her biggest supporters. After singing Aretha Franklin's "See Saw" on The Voice's blind auditions, she was recruited on Blake Shelton's team. During the competition, she sang Lesley Gore's "You Don't Own Me," "Let It Be," "With a Little Help from My Friends" by the Beatles, and The Greatest Showman's "This Is Me." She advanced to the finale, but finished in third place behind Britton Buchanan and winner Brynn Cartelli. After the season concluded, songs sung on the show were compiled on Kyla Jade: The Complete Season 14 Collection. ~ Neil Z. Yeung
