About Jason Pilling

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I was a piano lesson slacker...as a kid, I would often go to the weekly lesson having not practiced at all. I like to be focussed on a more tangible goal than "practice"...which explains why I record and release more than most of my peers. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Aimee Mann, Magnolia (Music from the Motion Picture) Regina Spektor, What We Saw from the Cheap Seats The Tragically Hip, Man Machine Poem Lyrics. These albums are loaded with lyrics about real life situations, and not all love songs. These the shining examples I use for inspiration in my own music. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Protect the Cubs” This is a song about being a parent, and caring about the larger world. Not all my songs are this earnest, but this is the core of who I am. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? It's always the last song I released. Everything a committed musician makes is going to be 100% of what they have at the time. We keep learning, it keeps getting better. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I'd love to be in a 5 person band of true collaborators. But it's extremely difficult to get such a thing going and maintain it.
