Hakushi Hasegawa

Japanese artist Hakushi Hasegawa creates highly complex art-pop songs that manage to be sophisticated as well as chaotic, incorporating smooth vocals and finely tuned melodies into dense, technical arrangements. Their music can sound like vibrant jazz, frenetic drill'n'bass, and giddy yet tender J-pop, often all at once. Following two well-received EPs that were both released before the artist turned 20, Hasegawa's acclaimed, inventive debut album, Air Ni Ni, arrived in 2019. Pandemic-era online events presented by Porter Robinson and Flying Lotus exposed Hasegawa's music to Western audiences, and their second full-length, Mahōgakkō, was issued by Brainfeeder in 2024.
