About Great Lake Swimmers

Led by singer/songwriter Tony Dekker, Toronto's Great Lake Swimmers play wide screen modern folk music to drive across the country to. Formed in 2004, the group issued its self-titled debut in 2005; that release, whose sparse, almost meditative sound recalled the work of the Red House Painters, earned the group the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s Galaxie Rising Star Award. BODIES AND MINDS, released close on the heels of the debut, covered similarly windswept ground. On 2007's ONGIARA, Dekker refined his group's sound, and LOST CHANNELS, recorded around the Thousand Islands archipelago, followed in early 2009.
