About Dan + Shay
Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney hit it off almost instantly when they met in 2012, and their partnership as songwriters and singers has only gotten stronger in the years since. The pair’s knowledge of classic country ideals, modern pop savvy, and old-fashioned romance made them a hot commodity in Nashville almost as soon as they began collaborating, and their 2013 debut single “19 You + Me” blended detailed storytelling with smooth harmonies in a way that wowed Nashville insiders and country fans. In 2014, Dan + Shay released their debut album, Where It All Began, which included the sparkling love song “Show You Off” and the sun-dappled devotional “Nothin’ Like You.” Their second album, 2016’s Obsessed, firmed up their status as country music’s premier new-school romantics, as evidenced by the slow-building “How Not To” and the radio-ready “Road Trippin’.” In 2018, Dan + Shay crossed over to the pop world with the midtempo drinking song “Tequila” and its follow-up single, the power-ballad-tinged “Speechless,” both of which showcased the pair’s exquisite harmonies and talent for writing pointed, yet universally relatable, tales of love and love lost. Justin Bieber, no stranger to country collabs, tapped Dan + Shay to co-write and sing on the love song “10,000 Hours” in 2019; it quickly became the duo’s biggest crossover hit to date, and it proved that Dan + Shay’s innate knowledge of what makes a song tick works across genres.
