About Carly Reirson
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was six, my parents took me to see Alison Krauss at the Winspear Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. We sat in the bleachers and my parents brought binoculars to look through. I remember seeing the band all huddle together in the middle of the stage. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Alison Krauss, Now That I've Found You: A Collection Jack Johnson, In Between Dreams Tony Bennett, k.d. lang, A Wonderful World Before his Duet Albums and before Lady Gaga, k.d. lang came first. My love of jazz and the female voice in one record. Jack Johnson was a staple in high school. Alison Krauss was my first concert as a kid. This is foundational to who I am today. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Aurora” I had to write a metaphor song for a school and was drawing a blank so when my friend asked me if I wanted to go for a drive, I went. Seeing the northern lights in the sky as we headed west was all the inspiration I needed to finish the song. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Recording is always a highlight for me. Being in the studio with professional musicians make my songs sound way better than I could make it on my own is very rewarding and exhilarating. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I would love to do a tour where I play my songs with philharmonic orchestras from all over the world. I love the orchestra and getting to play in their venues, especially the ones I grew up attending, would be a dream come true.
