BP Valenzuela

Her quirky and meditative electro-pop makes an unlikely marriage of ’80s synthwave and stripped-down ’90s melodies. But the austere lyricism and electronic stylings of BP Valenzuela (born in 1995) are their own stew of sadness and savvy. She once lived for nighttime gigs while studying pre-law and moonlighting as a barista. To de-stress, she poured everything into songs and uploaded her musings as unpolished tracks until she eventually had enough for an EP. With the stellar Be/Ep, her ruminations on love and sexuality propelled her to the stage full-time.
