About Barenaked Ladies

Bonding over their shared love of Peter Gabriel, Barenaked Ladies’ Ed Robertson and Steven Page first began playing together while working as counselors at a music camp.

· Before they started their group, Robertson and Page were at a Bob Dylan concert when they began brainstorming fictitious band names, including “Barenaked Ladies.”
· In 1991, The Yellow Tape—a demo that had been rejected by numerous labels—unexpectedly caught fire and became the first-ever independent release to reach Platinum status in Canada.
· The video for their single “The Old Apartment” was directed by actor Jason Priestley, who then invited Barenaked Ladies to appear on his hit TV series, Beverly Hills 90210.
· “One Week,” the lead single from their 1998 album Stunt, was an international smash that hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and spent 20 weeks on the chart.
· In 2007, the band created the theme song for the hit TV sitcom The Big Bang Theory.
· In addition to their two Grammy nominations, Barenaked Ladies have won nine Juno Awards, including an induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
