¡UNO!, the first album of Green Day's 2012 trilogy, is a throwback to the days when the band favoured snappy, compact pop-punk. "Nuclear Family" and "Let Yourself Go" are heart-rate-raising punk thrashes, while "Loss of Control" pairs jagged, white-hot guitar solos with jittery rhythms, and the freewheeling "Carpe Diem" laces its power pop with stacked harmonies. Better still is the handclap-heavy "Troublemaker," a falsetto-laden mod-punk daydream about corrupting a snooty beauty.
