For his fourth holiday project, Christian composer Michael W. Smith goes country, turning to crooners like Vince Gill, Martina McBride, and Lady Antebellum to conjure up some down-home Christmas cheer. Not everyone has a twang, though. Michael McDonald joins Smith on “Peace” and Bono contributes the moody spoken word piece “The Darkest Midnight,” while Amy Grant lends her voice to the haunting new hymn “Almost There.” Meanwhile, Carrie Underwood’s lush vocals on “All Is Well” are a present you’ll want to unwrap again and again.
