Stripped - EP

Taking five songs from his 2016 self-titled debut and 2017 deluxe edition, Louisiana’s Dylan Scott strips away the pop-country production to deliver an almost-acoustic arrangement. The result lets his baritone growl loose in ways that position it front and center more than previous arrangements did. Opening and closing tracks “Crazy Over Me” and “Beer Buddies” take on a sentimental feel thanks to Scott’s simpler structuring, but he doesn’t let “stripped” mean “sleepy.” He keeps the R&B rhythms of “Can’t Take Her Anywhere,” his cadence and delivery bouncing around the beat in a way that shows off how he flips the song’s title phrase: “I can’t take her anywhere without causing a scene/Everywhere we go, she got her own paparazzi.”
