Morgan Evans’ aptly titled EP tracks his emotional journey following his 2022 divorce from fellow country artist Kelsea Ballerini. Following an arc that Evans says included “unexpected heartbreak” and “self-rediscovery,” these songs seem to proceed in chronological order. Opener “Over for You” sits with the most hurt, awash with questions (“How long has it been over for you?”) while still harbouring hope for a brighter future beyond the immediate sense of loss. The following “On My Own Again” plays like a direct sequel, finding the playful potential in restored independence. From there, “Hey Little Mama” hints at new romance and “All Right Here” salutes the joys of the present, including cold beers and country music. But the pain still lingers, and a closing live version of “Over for You” reduces the ballad to just voice and piano for a heartbreaking send-off.
