Perth, Australia, producers Elise Reitze and Rosie Taylor, a.k.a. Feels, approach dance music almost from a composer’s standpoint. On “Glasshouse,” they spin Philip Glass-style piano arpeggios into a symphony of urgency, propelled by a persistent, clacking handclap beat. On other genre-bending tracks, they stack rhythms upon rhythms, like throwing drum machines and synths into a tumble dryer—and they all tend to come out smelling fresh and clean. But what ties all of these tunes to the dance floor is their adherence to a subtle funkiness—whether deconstructed or in plain view—that’s sleek, warm, and engulfing.
