Powerglide

Powerglide

The New Riders' second album introduced key member Buddy Cage on pedal steel, strengthening the country-rock sound that they were still building on with tunes like the sunny "Rainbow" and the lambent "Lochinvar." But Powerglide also found the band stretching out, cutting other people's tunes for the first time, and venturing into classic honky-tonk ("Dim Lights, Thick Smoke [and Loud, Loud Music]"), R&B ("I Don't Need No Doctor"), and old-school rock 'n' roll ("Willie and the Hand Jive").
