Jaguares Essentials

Jaguares Essentials

After taking rock en español across borders with Caifanes, singer/songwriter/bandleader Saúl Hernández concocted a more personal sound in the mid-'90s with Jaguares. Part Mayan priest, part Bono, Hernández delivers spiritually and politically conscious lyrics in a husky tenor backed by former Caifanes members and César “Vampiro” López's searing guitar lines. Through the years, Jaguares focused their alternative rock into a darker, more aggressive sound—suggesting they'd been listening to ‘80s post-punk like Joy Division and The Cure.
