A former member of the all-conquering Brazilian alt-rock band Titãs, singer/songwriter, poet and composer Arnaldo Antunes embarked on a solo career with his 1993 debut Nome. Singing in Portuguese, with his baritone drawl reminiscent of Lou Reed, Antunes brings pulsating rock rhythms and driving electric guitars to his music—although he also embraces the eclectic, with ska influences and shuffling brass sections. An endlessly popular musician, he's collaborated on a whole raft of projects, and has inspired just as many fellow Brazilian artists.
