In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Performing live for the first time at BOXPARK Shoreditch a couple years back. I must have been 16 or something at the time and did a few of my original songs on saxophone. Seeing people vibe with your music in person… there’s nothing like it! What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? J. Cole, 2014 Forest Hills Drive Kendrick Lamar, To Pimp a Butterfly Sam Gellaitry, Escapism - EP 1)TPAB - listen to the Dissect Podcast series about the album! It’s a masterpiece! 2) Escapism this was the first time I heard a producer make a body of work without vocals that really spoke to me. 3) 2014FHD the album is so well-crafted and honest. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Start from Scratch (feat. Gidds Jerubbaal)” A song I wrote with my brother called ‘Start From Scratch’. It’s on my first EP ‘Sankofa’. The way that song came about was super organic and still feels relevant to this day! What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Definitely meeting Joe Kay (Soulection) at 16 and pitching my CD to him and the Soulection team outside a club that I wasn’t old enough to get into! That lead to one of my songs getting played on Soulection Radio on Beats1 worldwide. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I’d love to start writing scores for films and TV shows in the future. I think it would help develop me as a music creator, as it’s so different to making ‘songs’.
