About Gimson

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I’m not from a musical family. My earliest memories of music were the power ballads my mum would listen to and the classic 80’s cassettes my dad would play in his brown Ford Escort that he’d pick me up in every other Sunday. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Jam Baxter, ...So We Ate Them Whole Kendrick Lamar, To Pimp a Butterfly Makaveli, The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory This was hard and I’d probably give you a different answer each time you asked me. The Makaveli LP was an album that got me through some tough times as a teen and the other 2 are lyrical masterpieces. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Wake Me When It's Over (Instrumental)” I think this is one of my strongest tracks lyrically to date. It’s like a blue pill - red pill moment on a path of conscious awakening which is still slightly out of my grasp. I like it better when someone else explains the meaning behind my songs What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? In 2014 I had the privilege of collaborating with Blak Twang who was one of my biggest UK Hip Hop inspirations growing up. The track is called Reality Check and is available on Apple Music Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? To get heard by people who want to hear my music. There’s billions of people on this planet so I know they’re out there somewhere
