About Elle Kay

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. One of my earliest musical memories is singing by myself at my 4th grade talent show. I had a huge crush on a boy in my class and I decided that the best way to express that emotion without having to tell him was to sing “Tear Drops on My Guitar”. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Cat Stevens, Tea for the Tillerman Deluxe Edition Fleetwood Mac, Rumours Super Deluxe Edition Joni Mitchell, Joni Mitchell Archives, Vol. 3: The Asylum Years (1972-1975) My top 3 are Rumours by Fleetwood Mac, Tea for the Tillerman by Cat Stevens, & Blue by Joni Mitchell. I love these albums because they tell stories in a beautiful way. As a songwriter, I gravitate to beautiful poetry, and these albums are full of it. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Imagine That” I wrote this song with my two voice teachers about the life, legacy, & assassination of John Lennon. We were so excited about the idea of getting into John’s head and writing from his imagined perspective. The energy in the room was magical. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? My 1st headlining show in Nashville. This was such a beautiful experience where I got to perform with and for some of my best friends. Music is a vulnerable thing, and it was special for me to perform emotional melodies in such a loving environment. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? The journey has just begun. I have a lot of things in the works to achieve as an artist, but my biggest bucket list item is to find a community of music lovers who can find comfort in the stories I tell and embrace life’s highs and lows together.
