About Blazin' Fiddles

Formed in 1998 by Inverness native Bruce MacGregor, Blazin' Fiddles is a traditional Celtic fiddle group based in the Highlands and islands of Scotland. MacGregor's original intention was to put together a one-off group for the 1998 Highland Festival, in order to showcase the various different fiddle styles of the Highlands area through a sort of regional supergroup of players. Based on the success of that event, the group stayed together, eventually going on to record its first album, Fire On!, in 2002. Generally consisting of a lineup of four fiddles with piano and guitar accompaniment, the one mainstay of the group's long career has been MacGregor, who has continued to shuffle the lineup and recruit many talented players. Since their 2002 debut, Blazin' Fiddles has gone on to release five more albums, culminating with 2014's Six, which follows the achievement of their 2013 MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Award for Folk Band of the Year. ~ Timothy Monger
