Creeper’s songs have a sneaky melodic sweetness that’s eerily at odds with the dark drama of their lyrics. Hailing from Southampton, macabre spirits Will Gould and Ian Miles bonded over a shared love of glam and goth, infusing their grand conceits with raw punk energy. Their self-titled debut EP, released in 2014, is a 200 mph ghost-train ride of horror hardcore, and since signing to Roadrunner Records they’ve introduced more carnival touches, adding music-hall grotesque to their arsenal. In true Bowie-killing-off-Ziggy-Stardust style, they announced a breakup on stage in 2018, then came back from the dead with the raging single “Born Cold”.
