Tokyo unit SOUL SCREAM has flowed in one form or another since the mid ‘90s. Starting out as a five-member collective, they quickly contracted into a classic “two MCs and one DJ” line-up with Hab I Scream and E.G.G. Man spitting rhymes over DJ Celory’s nimble beats. While their name might suggest a sense of angst and the struggle of the streets, their vibes are positive. Whether they’re rapping over woozy samples and crunchy boom bap or riding on a laid-back G-funk groove, warmth radiates from every track.
