“I been making beautiful music my whole career, but the undercurrent has been hell,” Raphael Saadiq says. The celebrated singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist uses his latest album Jimmy Lee to focus on one particular aspect of that hell, telling the story of Saadiq’s dearly departed older brother and how his battle with addiction affected their family. In an exclusive documentary, Saadiq gets candid with Apple Music about what the memory of his brother means to him, and how the experience of loving an addict inspired his most personal work to date. The piece features testimony from family, friends and collaborators, as well as ultra-personal stories never before shared by the singer.
