With Wonder Trail, UK trumpeter Laura Jurd and Dinosaur heighten the sonic intrigue they began in 2016 with Together, As One. Jurd’s horn is ever-present, but it’s the synthesisers, played by Jurd and Elliot Galvin, that add a surreal and daring quality to the music, whether it’s the grinding chords of “Shine Your Light” or the playful, machine-like melodising of “Old Times’ Sake”. Electric bassist Conor Chaplin and drummer Corrie Dick outline every rigorous compositional detail while surrendering to the spirit of mayhem when needed.
