From the ‘70s on, George Clinton's output with Parliament and Funkadelic has travelled to the farthest depths of the funk cosmos. In their hands, the folk-pop classic “California Dreamin'” becomes reimagined as a psychedelic paean, while “I'm Never Gonna Tell It” soars on a squelching alien strut. And even in spite of its title, “Unfunky UFO” rumbles along on a low-down, earthy groove.
