Dan Gresham cemented his reputation in the underground Cambridge drum ‘n’ bass scene of the 2000s. As well as providing transformative remixes for Adele and The Shapeshifters, the king of soulful jungle has put out several solo LPs of irrepressible liquid funk. His 2005 debut, Brave Nu World, was bolstered by stellar collaborations with soul-jazz singer Natalie Williams and remains a master class in smooth, speedy dynamism. The same fierce energy crackles throughout 2014’s Future History, with Dynamite MC spitting on the rough-and-ready “Cannibals” and Hackney’s Lea Lea adding some finesse to the atmospheric “Tides”.
