Inspired by Gilberto Gil

In the late ‘60s, Gilberto Gil proved that stylistic fusions could make a formidable statement, and generations of bold artists have paid close attention. His left-field experimentations are honoured in Devendra Banhart's twee folk psychedelia; Natalia y La Forquetina dignify him with their all-Spanish bossa nova; and Curumin's exuberant alt-samba funk is evidence that Gil's radical synthesis lives on.
