Coming out of the psych-folk scene that gave birth to acts like Animal Collective, Gang Gang Dance found a cult following with Brian DeGraw's percussion-heavy free-form compositions, bathed in electronics and topped by Lizzi Bougatsos' eccentric vocals. Treading the line between anti-music and pan-cultural psychedelia on their early albums, GGD move towards a more structured sound on 2008's Saint Dymphna, embracing synthpop and disco elements. That shift led to the critically acclaimed Eye Contact in 2011, with GGD getting groovier than ever while staying uncompromisingly weird.
