Dylan Sinclair Essentials

Born to a Filipino-Guyanese family in Toronto, Dylan Sinclair started soaking up music at an early age from his gospel-singing father. He began singing in church at the age of four and was still a teen when his debut EP, Red Like Crimson, came out in 2018. From the start, there was a bit of gospel influence discernible in his sound, but the most significant echoes in Sinclair’s music are neo-soul innovators like D’Angelo and Musiq Soulchild. With his smooth, creamy vocal style and agile falsetto, Sinclair earned a Juno nomination for his 2020 debut album, Proverb, and in 2021 received one of the first Black Canadian Music Awards.
