The multi-instrumentalist auteur has shape-shifted his way through collaborations with Charlotte Gainsbourg, Blood Orange's Devonte Hynes and, as Soft Hair, LA Priest's Sam Dust. Those bold team-ups display a dramatic evolution from the lo-fi psych pop of his mid-'00s band, Connan And The Mockasins. But his solo material is the most alluring of his entire oddball oeuvre: Just try not to lose yourself amid the gravity-defying drift of “It's Choade My Dear” or the steamy soft-rock squishiness of “I'm the Man, That Will Find You”, both kissed by Mockasin's eerily breathy singing.
