About Mary McBride

Born in Louisiana but raised in the Washington, D.C., area, Mary McBride took to music at an early age. After moving to New York, the musician began performing where and when she could, whether on the street or in the city's countless subway corridors. Her performances later moved to Brownies, Mercury Lounge, the Bowery Ballroom, and Joe's Pub. Gaining a larger following after numerous gigs, McBride was compared to Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt, and Lucinda Williams. After being signed to Bogan Records, McBride entered the studio to record her debut album. Everything Seemed Alright was released in July 2002. This was followed a month-long tour known as the Five Borough Tour. This was a free tour throughout New York that featured several special guests. McBride has opened for Fred Eaglesmith, Marah, and Maria Muldaur, among others. She has also co-written with Dan Baird, Mojo Nixon, and Eric Ambel. ~ Jason MacNeil
