One of my earliest musical memories is sitting on the floor with my first drumsticks, tapping rhythms on anything I could find—pots, pillows— before I had a real drum kit. Cartola, Cartola (1976) John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Thelonious Monk With John Coltrane Miles Davis Quintet, Workin' With The Miles Davis Quintet Remastered Thelonious Monk & John Coltrane’s synergy blows my mind every time. Cartola’s 1976 album feels like home—pure poetry and soul. And Workin’ with The Miles Davis Quintet taught me everything about space, groove, and conversation in music.
