About Lorie Line

A popular instrumental pianist, composer, and arranger with dozens of releases to her credit, Lorie Line first launched her career performing for shoppers in Dayton's department stores around Minneapolis. Born and raised in Reno, Nevada, Line began playing piano at the age of five. Gifted with the talent of playing by ear, she began taking lessons a year later; by the time of her high school graduation, she had won two national classical piano competitions. Line studied piano performance at the University of Nevada in Reno, eventually relocating to Minneapolis in 1986 with her husband and future business partner, Tim Line. While performing at Dayton's and moonlighting around the Twin Cities, she recorded her first album, 1989's Out of Line. Released on her own label, Time Line Productions, and featuring piano arrangements of popular movie themes and light classical standards, Line's debut effectively kickstarted a career that would see her sell millions of albums and be inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame. Performing around the country as a solo artist and with her Pop Chamber Orchestra, Line produced a pair of popular public television specials in the late '90s while maintaining a prolific recording career that frequently placed her on the New Age charts. Throughout the '90s and 2000s, she released dozens of albums including a number of popular Christmas releases, becoming a staple of American light classical, New Age, and instrumental pop music. At the dawn of the next decade, Line's instrumental music became increasingly popular on streaming services like Pandora, where her radio station boasted thousands of listeners. In addition to her many albums, Line has also published dozens of piano arrangement and educational books. ~ Timothy Monger
